Perth and Surrounds

Perth is accessible by road, rail or air  
Day 1
Take a ride on the Indian Pacific, a unique world renowned premier rail experience joining the Pacific and Indian Oceans, connecting Sydney and Perth.

Must see sites and stops:

  • View the Blue Mountains and Nullarbor Desert
  • Hop off at Broken Hill, Adelaide and gold rich Kalgoorlie

Day 2
Explore the city with the many attractions and sites.

Must see sites and stops:

  • Visit the Perth Mint to view a gold pour
  • Check out the Cultural Centre to see Aboriginal Art and other exhibitions
  • Hire equipment and cycle or rollerblade through Kings Park

Day 3
See the Black Swans, the state's fauna emblem, on the Swan River. Shop for Australian Argyle diamonds (the world's largest supplier of coloured diamonds) and Broome peals in the Perth suburb of Subiaco.

Must see sites and stops:

  • Dine in Northbridge, the premier restaurant and nightclub area

Day 4
Take a cruise along the Swan River to historic Fremantle, site of the America's cup challenge.

Must see sites and stops:

  • Take a guided tour of the Fremantle Prison
  • Browse through the Fremantle Markets
  • Relax with a cappuccino on the well known cappuccino strip, a street lined with cafes

Day 5
Head just north of Perth to Scarborough Beach.

Must see sites and stops:

  • Spend the day at the beach or go to watch the sunset over the water

A host of other options exist outside Perth and shouldn't be forgotten on your travels
The south west is accessible by road. 

Other activities in Perth

  • Heading south of Perth stop at Bunbury to see dolphins in the harbour inlet
  • Watch the surfers at Margaret River beach
  • Sample the wares of the local wineries
  • Take a guided tour of underground caves
  • Enjoy many craft shops and wood galleries in Pemberton with Karri trees over 60 metres high
  • Climb the Gloucester Tree, a 62 metre high tree - a great place to look out over the canopy
